5K For Orphans
5K for Orphans was held on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at 8:00am at Kickapoo Park, Lincoln, IL. The purpose of 5K for Orphans was to create awareness for the plight of orphans and to raise money for the Woven Together Fund, which helps with adoption costs for families in Logan County.
We had great orphan awareness t-shirts and beads made by Ugandan widows available for sale. The proceeds of the sale of these items went toward helping a local adoptive family bring their son home from Ethiopia. You can still order these items off the website through clicking on the 147 button on the side of our website and 30% will go to help this family!
Despite the heat we had this summer, the morning of the run was very pleasant. We were thankful that the Lincoln Running Club came out to support us. Over a thousand dollars was raised for the Woven Together Adoption Fund! Thank you to our sponsors Shew Homes and Woodworking as well as the many volunteers that helped to make this event a success.
We also have a poster that you may print out and help get the word out: 5K Poster
